How do you know fear is holding you, pulling you down, suffocating you and restricting your growth as an entrepreneur?
It’s the number 1 factor restricting the consistent action required for results.
We all know the feeling.
You know what you should be doing, but the thoughts of what other people think, or thoughts of failure, or making mistakes with key decisions such as choosing a niche. They all leave us with nothing more than a tight stomach and then the churning feeling of regret.
What can we do here?
What can shift our mind in a way where we can be productive, efficient, focused, disciplined and confident?
The first thing I look for with a client is their focus.
Really, what are you focused on?
What I find is that those who are driven by fear will be focusing on both certainty and/or significance.
I know at the heart of who you are you are a good soul. You want to make a better life for yourself, achieve, contribute, love and give as much value as you can.
However, we can often get ourselves into a state of survival, where we would like to achieve so we can feel secure, safe and comfortable in a particular lifestyle. We can also achieve so that we can feel special, unique and important at some level.
There’s nothing wrong with this, we all have it. The question is:
Which side of you is in control most often?
To find this out you may also ask: Are you striving to achieve because you feel lack of it in your life?
These key questions give me some insight into which mental state you generally operate from.
The mental state running you will determine your success or failure. Is it from a survival state that focuses mostly on certainty and significance? Or is it where you mostly focus on love, growth and contribution?
Your particular focus will determine your thoughts, feelings and actions moving forward.
Ever wanted to move forward with something, but feel afraid of how you might look?
On the contrary, have you ever served a mission, a purpose greater than yourself or loved someone enough to dismiss how you may look and move forward in a resourceful manner?
They may seem worlds apart, but it’s really not.
It’s a matter of controlling your mental state and taking resourceful action.
When you are fearful, worried or stressed, you can’t tap into your creativity, passion, love, curiosity, drive and persistence.
All these emotions are needed if you are to succeed with your best self moving forward.
Another key question to ask is this: What do you value more than your fear?
For some people it’s their loved ones, for others it’s setting an example, or making a difference.
What is it for you?
My guess is, having fear overtake you is stopping you from feeling and experiencing the things that matter most to you.
I encourage you to explore this topic deeper and get to the core of what you are about.
